Saying Yes To The Dress!

Hi all! December has been such a whirlwind of fun! Colin and I traveled to New Hampshire to spend Christmas with his family, and we had so much fun. You may have caught a glimpse of this plaid wrap from Sole Society (gifted to me by Colin’s mom, which is actually now on sale for only $35!) and my grey Hunter boots (scored those at Nordstrom Rack for $79) on my Instagram! Shop those items by clicking on them above.

I traveled from New Hampshire to Indiana to do a little bit of shopping…wedding dress shopping, that is! I rounded up my best gals and my mom, and hit the shops.

My mom & I started off the day with breakfast and one of our favorite places, Bob Evans. Now, I know there are plenty of “better” places to eat in the Fort Wayne area, but one of our shopping traditions since I was in high school is breakfast at Bob Evans during a shopping trip (either in the morning or at night, breakfast for dinner style!). One of my best friends/bridesmaids, Haley, also briefly joined us for breakfast.

Going into our first shop, I had NO idea what I wanted out of a wedding dress. I had perused Pinterest for days looking at all sorts of silhouettes. My sister texted me earlier in the week and asked me what color of dress I wanted. I responded with “white?” not realizing there were so many different shades of white and off white, like champagne and ivory and moscato, etc!

Luckily, we started out at a lovely store called Bride To Be. I have heard of many gals getting their dress at this Fort Wayne boutique, but it really set the bar high. I tried on dozens of dresses – ball gowns, fit to flare, dropped waist…you name it, I tried it! My matron of honor, Courtney, zipped me and corseted me in all of these dresses – and thank goodness, because I had no idea what I was doing!

There was one dress at Bride To Be that I really loved, but my commitment issues forced me to keep looking around town. I didn’t want to wonder if there was another better dress out there!

We looked at David’s bridal (I hated everything there!), Wendy’s bridal, and finally landed at One Fine Day. Their store was simply gorgeous, and I was torn between two different dresses. I finally decided on a Ti Adora dress that I think really fits my personality. It’s simple and elegant, but I feel like a rockstar in it. You’ll have to wait until July 8th, 2017 to see it though!
