Happy almost 2017! I’ve had so much fun these past few days in Indiana, and I capped it off today with getting my hair done.
One thing I’ve really neglected this past year is my hair – I used to color it pretty often, but I’ve been SO busy this year that I haven’t even bothered to get it done – to the point that it’s like an ombré! I knew it was time to shell out the bucks to get it done, and I’m so glad I did.
I had been looking for a stylist in Austin where I live, but finding a stylist you trust to color your hair is so hard. I originally made an appointment at a Toni & Guy salon, but I didn’t have a very good experience. The customer service was subpar, and they generally made me feel like an idiot! So I cancelled my appointment and left.
For the longest time, my aunt has colored my hair. Now that she lives in Florida, I had to text all of my friends that still live in the Fort Wayne area to get some recommendations. My friend Haley always has great hair, so she recommended her stylist to me. Unfortunately, her stylist was on vacation, but her stylist was able to set me up with another stylist at her salon that she knew and trusted.
I read a quote the other day that I think is SO true: invest in your hair because it’s the crown you never take off. How true is that?! I went to the salon today and showed my stylist, Jelena, pictures of what I sort of wanted. I knew I wanted to go back to blonde highlights, and trim a few inches. The results were so much more than I could have hoped for!
The grand total for my new ‘do was around $125. In Austin, TX, it would’ve cost me at minimum $150 at a good salon. To me, it’s totally worth it to invest in my hair. It’s one of the first things people notice!
If you live in or around the Fort Wayne area, I highly recommend you go to The Hair Department and ask for Jelena Bade. She rocks, and so will your hair. Ciao!
